Go through your clothes:
The first step to restyling, is seeing what you’ve already been working with. Go through all of your clothes and put the pieces you like in one pile, and the pieces that are too used, too tight, or never worn in another pile. Keep the stuff you love, toss the stuff that looks ragged, and donate the stuff that just isn’t you anymore.
Window Shopping:
Each season there is usually an accessory or look that changes. If you want to be in style, go window shopping in the fashion district where you live. It doesn’t cost you anything! Take note of what’s in, what you hate, and what you love. Think about the one or two items you could buy that you can pair with what you already have to make these styles your reality.
Thrift Stores are your Friend:
Now that you know what to look for, skip the downtown shops, and opt for thrift stores. Many thrift stores sell lightly used items at a super reasonable price. You can find some very unique items of you look carefully. The fun thing about beauty trends is that they tend to come back. This means you may be able to find a vintage item of whatever is trending now!
Off the Rack:
Don’t really want to go secondhand? That’s fine too. Try checking out stores like Winners, Marshall’s, and Nordstrom Rack. You may have to go through a lot of clothes, but try to think of it as a treasure hunt for the type of item you’re looking for. They have things that are “in” for a much better deal.
Ask a Friend:
If you don’t want to spend a dime on a new look, a super fun way to change up your style is to do a clothing exchange. Talk to your friends, and see who’s interested. Everyone goes through their clothes and selects things they feel like donating. Then everyone brings them to your place, and you swap. New styles for you and your friends, without the price tag.
