Last time, we spoke about a few ways to invest in yourself! If you haven’t seen our first 4 ideas, check out our previous blog 9 Great Ways To Invest In Yourself – Part 1, and come back here to look at another 5 ways to invest in yourself.
5- “Schooling Doesn’t Assure employment but Skill Does.” – Amit Kalantri
If you are unsure about learning a whole new skill from scratch, work on what you already have, search for online courses that are related to previous work you have done and improve on your already-existing knowledge of these topics.
After a while, when you feel ready and prepared to dive into something totally new, you will find plenty of resources that would nurture your curiosity and engage you in the learning process. By acquiring a new skill you are opening yourself and mind to a new outlook and enhancing your skills.
6- Save 10% of What you Make (Maybe Invest it Too!)
When I first came across this tip, it made total sense to me. 10% is a small sum of money that won’t majorly affect your lifestyle but when added up together over time it can make a difference and will accumulate into a great amount in savings!
7- Learn the Art of Dealing with People
Because not all people see life the same, you simply can’t treat them all the same.
You cannot treat everyone with good intentions because at the end of the day, you might come off as naive & get yourself hurt. Be yourself, but also work on truly understanding the persons you’re dealing with, and based on your knowledge, decide what you can and cannot share with those people, learn to communicate effectively, calculate your words, be considerate and agile. And most importantly, work on becoming emotionally intelligent. These skills will play a role in every aspect of your life be it professional or personal.
8- Your Body is a Temple!
Treat your body like the asset you were assigned with at birth and you want to keep it functioning at its best for as far as your life goes! Don’t over-exhaust yourself with work, remember to get enough rest. There is so much going on in the world so try to close some unnecessary tabs in your head. Sleep 7-9 hours a day, have a relaxing bath, go to the gym; or try walking for 30 min every day. Eat healthy food that contains all the necessary nutrients for your body, protein, carbs, fat, water, vitamins, and minerals.
Lastly, have mercy on yourself and steer away from the substances that eat on your health like alcohol or smoking, protect this no-return asset that is your body so it helps you live your life to the fullest!
9- Get Off the Couch Already
“If you don’t go after what you want, you’ll never have it. If you don’t ask, the answer is always no. And if you don’t step forward, you’re always in the same place.” – Nora Roberts
Chase after your goals and do not be afraid to make mistakes. In the end, you will benefit greatly and reap what you sowed.
Befriend yourself and take on this greatly important investment. We need constant challenges to grow, so why not do what is mentioned above!
